Jaguar is rumored to be developing an even more potent model than the XKR and, as these latest spy images reveal, the car could be on sale sooner than you think. Targeting high-end sports cars like the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Porsche 911 Turbo, the new car will likely get a significant power boost over the current XKR and feature many technologies shared with Jaguar’s GT3 racecar. The only noticeable difference over the regular XKR is the new front bumper, suggesting most of the changes will be under the skin.

spy_xkr_03.jpgPower levels should be in excess of 500hp (373kW), brought about a series of upgrades to the supercharged 4.2L engine. These will likely entail the usual power mods such as ECU remapping, improved valve timing, a high-flow exhaust system and higher boost pressure.

Expect to see a 0-100km/h time around the 4.5 second mark and a top speed beyond 280km/h. Head over to our AutoGespot to see several other images of the test-mule or click here to read our previous story on the upcoming XKR-R.
