Rolls-Royce has confirmed production plans for a new coupe model based on its 101EX (pictured) concept car that starred at the Geneva Motor Show last year. The new production version is set to go on sale next year where it will join the current Phantom saloon and Drophead convertible in Rolls-Royce’s lineup.
Based on the same platform as the Phantom, the new two-door will offer seating for four and feature the saloon’s aluminum construction and 6.75L V12 engine. Output will be the same 453hp and 720Nm of torque but the coupe will be subtly tuned with more emphasis placed on the driver. The car’s overall length will be shorter than the sedan’s and there will be revisions to the suspension and chassis set-up.
The new coupe will be positioned between the sedan and new Drophead convertible. Yesterday, BMW CEO Norbert Reithoffer confirmed Rolls-Royce will also launch an all-new sedan positioned below the current Phantom lineup. The car is scheduled to arrive at the end of the decade and will be priced between $250,000 and $300,000.

Useless barge? Hardly. More coupes should be so bold. If the rest were, the daily commute would be a lot more exciting.
