Porsche releases Cayman S 'Sport' and Boxster S 'Porsche Design Edition 2'

Porsche has extended its model range with two new special edition models based on the Cayman and Boxster. Both cars get slightly more power and unique styling differentiating them from your typical run-of-the-mill Porsches. The models are based on the sportier 'S' variants and develop a peak output of 303hp (226kW) – 8hp (6kW) more than the standard models.

The Boxster S 'Porsche Design Edition 2' comes with a Carrera White color scheme, 19in SportDesign alloy wheels, new side air-intakes, a matching white center console and instrument cluster and grey sports stripes extending lengthwise along the body. Buyers will also receive a custom chronograph wristwatch complete with a rev counter style face in matching white.

The Cayman S 'Sport' is more colorful, coming as standard in a either a bright orange or green finish – the same colors from the 911 GT3. Further colors available on this model are Black, Indian Red, Speed Yellow and Carrera White, as well as Arctic Silver Metallic available at extra cost.

The car also picks up black alloys, and the same exterior mirrors and air intake grids from the GT3. Bi-xenon headlights, a Sports Chrono Package, new sports bucket seats and an updated exhaust system also come as standard, making this car as close to a "junior GT3" as you'll find without shelling out for the 911 model.

Production of the Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 will amount to just 500 units, while the Cayman S Sport will be limited to 700 units. Both will be reserved only for the European market and sales will start this September.
