One of Porsche’s most eagerly anticipated models is expected to arrive by the end of this year. The potent 911 GT2, which has been caught by spy photographers for the past 12 months, is set to hit showrooms in November packing a 530hp twin-turbo flat six. An inside source has revealed to Germany’s Automobilwoche that the GT2 will come as a strict two-seater with RWD and supercar rivaling performance.

The heavier and less powerful 911 Turbo already puts many supercars to shame, and the GT2 will definitely improve on the performance of its lesser 997-based cousin. Acceleration from 0-100km/h will take just 3.7 seconds with a top speed in excess of 320km/h.

But this is nothing new we hear you say. The source also reports that the car picks up a light-weight titanium exhaust system, which helps bring down the coupe’s kerb weight to around 1,400kg (the 996 GT2 weighed in at 1,420kg).

Early estimates put its price somewhere around the €200,000 mark, which isn’t shabby when you consider the price tags of some of the cars it could outperform. Porsche will release the 911 Turbo Cabriolet on September the 8th starting at €150,862, with the GT2 arriving one month later.
