Ford Mustang confirmed as Knight Rider’s KITT

Posted on Thursday 13 December 2007

For the remake of the Knight Rider series, an updated sequel that will air as a two-hour movie on NBC, a Ford Mustang coupe will star as the famous car KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand). In fact, there will be three different versions of KITT, all based around the Shelby GT500KR muscle car.

The three cars to be employed in the series include the KITT Hero, a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR, the KITT Attack, a high-speed version of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR Hero car that can transform into ‘attack’ model with the help of air-ride technology and specialized body parts, and finally, the KITT Remote, a driverless Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR version of the Hero vehicle.

As the movie goes, KITT features a supercomputer capable of hacking almost any system, built-in weapons, and a body, which thanks to nanotechnology, is capable of actually shifting shape and color.
