Leonhard, who hails from Austria, has said that the starting point for his '2010 Dodge Charger Concept' was the legendary "sound of the 1968-70 Charger." This inspired him to recreate the latest concept using the design characteristics and styling cues from the original with a touch of 21st century refreshment.
Leonhard's design portfolio includes a veritable smorgasbord of his own takes on what modern cars should look like, and while some of his design themes may seem a little more fast-and-the-furious then serious car design, his latest rendition of the Charger represents a definite evolution of his work.

The current Charger is hideous so most anything would be an improvement. While the rendering of this proposal is attractive, it begs the question are there enough buyers for 2 coupes in Dodge's line up?

I was thinking the same thing as I read the article. Dodge could do no worse with this design and call it the replacement for the Challenger when it comes up for a MMC. I doubt they would do anything this radical for the 2nd gen Challenger. That is simply not in Dodge's cards. Hopefully, for the U.S. economy, Dodge will still be around by the time the Challenger is ready for its next major update.

No way they'd produce something like this; it isn't nearly ugly enough to enter production...

Can anybody tell me what the mother of crap is wrong with American car design? I mean, we can put a man on the freaking moon but not design a car and barely build one?
And more to the point. If this dufus works for Dodge and he's not summarily fired that says a lot about why they're in their current situation.

I like it. I like the new Challenger as well.
Who cares, really. It's just a matter of personal taste, and absolutely 100% nothing else...

I love it. I saw Michael's designs before and he's a very talented artist. If Dodge built it, I would buy it. We now have a Magnum and the Charger would be a perfect replacement. I had a '71 Superbee and it was the best car I ever owned.

I LOVE IT.... EXCEPT THE REAR LIGHTS! the most amazing part about the look on it is the 1970 charger grill look... it has more muscle look than the 2005-08 look... the future needs more muscle looking cars and this is a great addition right next to the challenger and camaro... i would wait to buy this and hold off on the challenger

This car concept looks better than the current Charger, but only because there are parts that resemble the original. The design itself looks more like a Japanese import than an American muscle car, though. (New Camero... same thing) All you have to do is look at what's happening with the new Challenger to see what would happen if you made the new Charger look like the old one.
Sales would explode and BOTH muscle car fans and the rest of the public would be satisfied. People were expecting the new Charger to look like the old one. It didn't even come close.
There wasn't anywhere near the excitement for it as a result.
Note to Dodge... please learn the lesson from the Charger/Challenger lines.

Herr Michael-Leonard...Dude!!! great design!!! Its to bad the Germans pulled out of Chrysler..but now we know why...its the economy !!! they saw it coming...but back to ur design..I had 3 Chargers back in the day..one of each year..68, 69 & 70. As for the 71 and later..burn them all!! The new four door is OK..but does NOT say Charger..ur design certainly does!!! I've been working with the guy who designed the fake ferrari for the old Miami Vice show...so give me a shout at rstoliker@snet.net
Its no wonder these car companies are losing money..instead of the Challenger..they should have made a Cuda...just look at the auctions...Cuda's bring DOUBLE the money....also its very apparent that all the Camaro designers were laid off..even before it was confirmed..I said the new camaro looked alot like a caddy....the cadillac team did design it and it shows..the muscle car flame is flickering..but I still have hope..driving an 02 T/A Ltd edition convert. now...luv the new Pontiac El Camino..but check out the Holden site..they have alot more choices over there..anyway good work..but where's the Shaker hood version with the V-10???
