A photographer has caught a prototype of the upcoming Rolls Royce convertible undergoing testing in München. An official name for the new drop top hasn’t been announced but the car based on the current Phantom saloon is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2007. Before the convertible goes on sale RR will launch a coupe version of the Phantom, which it displayed in concept form at the 2006 Geneva Auto Show. Mechanicals will be identical to the Phantom, so expect the same 6.8L V12, aluminium construction and six-speed automatic transmission.
