Fans of video gaming might associate the letters GTA with a long-running series of mayhem and madness - and more than a little automotive hoonage. But in this case it’s the name of a Spanish motorsports team that runs a pair of cars in the Formula 3 championship. Racing is a great way to build a reputation, but to reach a global audience, a street car is the only way to go. That’s why GTA Motor is trying its hand at building a one - a 700hp, €600,000 race car for the street, to be precise.

Although it looks a bit like a baby Bugatti Veyron, and is still in the conceptual design phase - there is no real-world, working example of the car - it’s impressive on paper. A longitudinal V10 mounted mid-rear coupled to a sequential six-speed gearbox will motivate the carbon fiber/titanium chassis to an estimated top speed of more than 340km/h (211mph). The shape of the concept has already been put to the test in the wind tunnel, ensuring adequate downforce and slipperiness to make running at such speeds realistic and safe.

Despite the rather steep expected asking price of €600,000 for the unknown car from the as yet unproven maker, 99 units will be produced annually. Already eight orders have been placed, and the project’s backers seem confident that the year’s supply will be sold well in advance of its completion. Track testing will begin in August, with customer delivery to take place some time afterward.
