Pioneer, famous for building in car electronic entertainment systems, are now moving into the world of portable satellite navigation with the launch of the AVIC-S1 aimed squarely at the US and European markets.

Already a leader in car navigation systems, the move to a portable version is a sensible move. The beauty of the AVIC-S1 is the convenience of moving the device from car-to-car. Other features include a touch screen LCD panel, which is always beneficial for any in-car system, as well as support for 2D and 3D maps. It can even connect to your mobile phone via Bluetooth - don’t ask us why.

At the end of the day, this is just another step in the evolution of the market. What’s next? A model with built in sub-woofers.
