Jeep’s Grand Cherokee SRT may be about to get some competition from within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles [NYSE:FCAU].
Automotive News (subscription required) is reporting that the Dodge Durango is due to receive some updates for 2018, and coinciding with the updates will be the arrival of a high-performance Durango SRT.

Before you get excited over the possibility of a Durango SRT Hellcat equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, note that the alleged Durango SRT is said to be coming with the 6.4-liter V-8. The non-supercharged engine in the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT delivers 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, and we’d expect the same for any Durango SRT.
We’ve been hearing rumors of a Durango SRT since 2011’s launch of the current three-row SUV. But now the timing may finally be right.
With the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT confirmed to be receiving the Hellcat engine next year, along with the possibility of Trackhawk replacing the “SRT” component of its title, there’s space for a Durango SRT to join the fold. Whether the Dodge will inherit Jeep’s trick all-wheel-drive system remains to be seen, though.
