The world's wealthiest car enthusiasts—and a team of our not quite so well-heeled editors—are set to descend on California's scenic Central Coast this week, and it turns out that Mercedes-Benz's Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand will have something to tantalize its core clientele.

The automaker posted the second teaser in a week of a new concept dubbed the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, which we’ve heard may be arriving in production form as early as 2017.

The latest teaser gives us a look at a new front-end design. It shows the concept sports slit-like lights and a very BMW-esque grille treatment. The previous teaser showed the sensuous silhouette, which clearly marked the distinctive Maybach logo on the rear roof pillar.

The “6” in the name refers to the concept’s length: a full 6.0 meters. That works out to about 236 inches, which puts this two-door at roughly a foot longer than the $190,000-plus Mercedes-Maybach S600. That's a whole lot of coupe, but teasers indicate that the concept will wear its girth especially well.

The covers will come off on August 18 at the Monterey, California area's annual car week. The concept will eventually be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance flagship event on August 21.

That’s all we know officially. For now, we'll speculate that the next Maybach will probably be a long-wheelbase version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. It should utilize the same 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 engine that sits under the hood of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 sedan. Rolls-Royce’s Wraith would be the prime target.

With any luck, the concept will look a lot better than the rather acquired taste of Maybach’s last coupe, the one-off Exelero built on the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren's platform over a decade ago.
