The owner of a C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 recently found out the hard way why it’s never a good idea to do burnouts and speed on public roads.

His car ended up a total wreck after he pulled some antics best left to a restricted area such as a track.

As this video from YouTube channel Tucson Street Racing reveals, the driver executed a—quite impressive, we must admit—burnout to wow crowds while leaving a car meet in Scottsdale, Arizona. He then speeds down a road, changes into second gear and shortly loses traction at the rear wheels.

The car enters a spin and ends up slamming into a nearby tree, leaving it with its front completely destroyed. Fortunately the driver walked away with nothing but a bruised ego.

It turns out the driver was relatively young, so likely lacked experience. The Corvette Z06 is definitely the type of car that requires a driver that’s spent some time behind the wheel, preferably at a track, before its full potential can be released. It packs a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 delivering 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque and will sprint to 60 mph in about 3.0 seconds. Its quarter mile time comes in below 11.0 seconds and the top speed is around 200 mph.
