Talk of a convertible version of Ferrari’s [NYSE:RACE] LaFerrari flagship emerged almost immediately after the debut of the hybrid supercar.

Now, finally, the car, which may end up being called a LaFerrari Spider, has been confirmed.

The confirmation came from Chairman Sergio Marchionne who just this week was named CEO of Ferrari.

In front of reporters, including some from Automobile, Marchionne said the open-top car, which he referred to as the "Spider", was the only future product connected to the LaFerrari, quashing rumors of other variants such as a tamer, higher volume model or a Maserati-badged model.

When quizzed about the oft-rumored modern Dino, Marchionne said Ferrari was yet to determine how such car would fit in the lineup, though he didn't deny one was coming. For the Dino, it’s thought Ferrari is looking at a mid-engine sports car equipped with a V-6 engine to challenge McLaren’s new Sports Series range.
