The formula is a pretty simple one. Take a lightweight chassis, add a big engine, and you're going to wind up with a very fun vehicle. Now, that doesn't always mean you're dealing with a good vehicle but you're bound to have fun nonetheless. Examples of vehicles that are both fun and good include the BAC Mono, Ariel Atom, and now the Drakan Spyder.

All three of those (and more) can be had in the States by way of a company called Sector 111. Its owner Shinoo Mapleton stopped by Jay Leno's Garage to show off his Drakan Spyder creation, which is a vicious V-8 alternative to the likes of the Ariel Atom. Out back sits the LS3 E-Rod motor that can be sources from General Motors Company's [NYSE:GM] parts catalog. Here it's good for 430 horsepower.

The Spyder tips the scales at just 2,000 pounds, so we're dealing with a wonderful power-to-weight ratio. There are no driver aids to be found, which means you're left to put all of that power to good use on your own. You've got some help though, thanks to the sorted suspension, wide tires and large brakes.
