When you're passionate about something in this life, it's best to go out and try your best to follow the notions and ideas that spring from that passion. While that sounds like good advice, it's not always possible to do this. For example, let's say you're passionate about cars. More specifically, let's say your passionate about the iconic and amazing vintage Ferrari racing machines. To be able to acquire and maintain such a machine would require many tens of millions of dollars. It's just not feasible for most. Peter Giacobbi clearly isn't "most".

Peter is a man who grew up with a passion for cars. He did decided to pursue this passion, and he wound up designing his own automobile, which in turn helped him land a job as an engineer with DeLorean. As a younger man, Giacobbi found himself fascinated by the likes of Phil Hill and El Maestro Fangio. Those gents raced a car called the Ferrari 250 TR. This is a car that, today, costs between 30 and 50 million dollars, and the price tag on each of the only 34 produced Testa Rossa examples isn't slowing anytime soon.

Giacobbi decided to go out and build his own version of the car, as he explains in this video from Petrolicious. This isn't some cobbled together machine we're dealing with here, either. Instead, Peter sourced a Ferrari body that looks perfect with its unpainted aluminum. Under the hood is a Ferrari V-12 that produces more power than the original TR cars. The smaller bits and pieces are plucked from the same sources as the original cars, and the result is a something that could pass for the 35th TR.

Of course, there are many purists who will turn their noses at such a car. This is a replica. It's a recreation. It's not a real 250 TR. No, it might just be a little bit better because Peter Giacobbi built the car and enjoys every second he spends driving it. This car lives the way Enzo Ferrari envisioned that it should.
