Today, our focus turns to California, setting for the story of accused car thief and aspiring master-of-disguise Jose Espinoza, who attempted to evade police by literally spray painting his face. Now, it's worth noting Espinoza wasn't going for a simple misdirection which might fly against someone looking from inside a vehicle, 50-odd feet away, but a veneer which would withstand scrutiny from the officers who were waiting to capture him at his house. So he spray painted his face.

In a fantastic case of official understatement, ABC News reported a Madera Police Department spokesperson as stating his efforts were "ineffective." He's currently booked in the county jail.

While he's there, the cops might want to let Espinoza overhear how frustrated they are with how video surveillance can't pick up perps with lemon juice on their faces. It'd be interesting to see how long it takes for him to get busted again.
