Remember a few weeks ago when we told you about Burt Renyolds' 'Bandit' Pontiac Trans-Am heading to auction? The pre-auction estimates for the hammer price hovered in the $60,000 to $80,000 range. Well, it seems that there are quite a few fans of the Bandit, and a number of them have plenty of cash to spend. The winning bidder paid $450,000 to sign his name onto the title of the car.

Four... hundred... and... fifty... thousand... dollars.

Keep in mind that this was not a film-used car but rather a promotional vehicle that was gifted to Reynolds. Yes his ass sat in the driver's seat, but it did not make the greatest beer run caught on film. To say that someone overpaid would be a colossal understatement. Still, we can't fault someone for acquiring his or her dream car, and if you have the means then spend your money however you see fit.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the auction of Burt's goodies brought in around $2.5 million in total. Many big ticket items easily exceeded their pre-auction estimates. That's one hell of a garage sale, and someone out there now has one hell of a $450,000 1977 Pontiac Trans-Am.
