The Quail is a special gathering of cars, enthusiasts, and press during the week leading up to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and this year, it will have something special to show not from the past, but from the future: the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo race car.
The world will have to wait until August 15 to learn more of the car’s specifications, but expect to see this Super Trofeo race car take the leading role in the various Blancpain Super Trofeo series in 2015, alongside the current Gallardo Super Trofeo.
We expect the racing car to share the same heavily revised 5.2-liter V-10 engine found in the road-going Huracán, where it generates 601 horsepower—though we expect the engineers to find a little more power in race trim. All-wheel drive is also a likely bet, and from the video, we can tell the interior will be stripped and caged like any other race car, while the exterior will be hung with a variety of aerodynamic enhancements to improve high-speed grip.
The Huracán Super Trofeo underwent its first shakedown with the Squadra Corse factory racing effort in mid-July. Another racing variant of the Huracán is expected to come along later this year, too, prepared for international GT3 racing.
