The all-new 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT made its world debut last night at AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany, with a number of stars in attendance including current points leader in the 2014 Formula One World Championship Nico Rosberg. We now have additional photos taken at last night’s unveiling as well as a video showing the car hitting a track and the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Two versions of the stunning sports car have been announced, a 456-horsepower GT and 503-horsepower GT S. Only the latter will be available at the car’s U.S. launch, scheduled for spring 2015, with the former due to arrive about a year later. Further down the track we expect more variants, including a hardcore Black Series.

Both the current GT and GT S are powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that will eventually find its way into all V-8-powered models in the AMG fleet. The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission mounted on the rear axle and spins the rear wheels only.
