Lexus will present a new race car concept designed to GT3 specification at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show early next month. The new concept will be based on the RC F sports car and signal the Japanese luxury brand’s intention to compete in the international GT3 circuit, just like Bentley and Lamborghini, both of which have recently launched new GT3 race cars of their own.

Lexus already has a race car based on its RC F: the recently revealed 2014 RC F GT500 designed for Japan’s Super GT touring car series. Expect the RC F GT3 concept to share similar lines to the RC F GT500 but with power coming from a V-8 engine instead of the Super GT-mandated four-cylinder.

Also making its debut in Geneva will be the regular RC luxury coupe equipped with a new F Sport package. This package is likely to add some aero pieces along with uprated suspension, brakes and tires.

Although Lexus hasn’t mentioned it, there are claims the automaker’s new NX compact crossover may also bow in Geneva. This new model is due in showrooms in the fall, so we should be seeing its debut soon.

Opening day for the 2014 Geneva Motor Show is March 4. In the meantime, head to our dedicated hub for our latest info on the show.
