India’s DC Design used this week’s 2014 Delhi Auto Expo to showcase a new compact car and crossover, but also sharing the design firm’s stand were some examples of
its Avanti sports car
. The Avanti actually made its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo a year ago, but now development is complete and production ready to get underway in the third quarter of the year.
None of the specs have changed during the past year, which means the Avanti will still sport a turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder, rated at 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mid-mounted in a tubular steel chassis and drive is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
The last we heard, DC Design was planning to limit production to 3,500 examples and pricing would be set at somewhere between 25-30 lakh rupees (approximately $40,000-$47,000).
