The Ford Mustang isn’t the type of car you’d typically associate with an event like the Consumer Electronics Show, but the latest version of the iconic muscle car has just been named the ‘official car’ of next month’s show. As the official car of CES, a pristine example of the latest 2015 Mustang will be prominently displayed in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center, where the show is held each year. In addition, Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] will feature a 2015 Mustang Convertible on its own stand at CES.

Ford is keen to change perceptions that the Mustang is only for buyers that grew up during muscle car’s golden days of the mid-1960s. Thus, at the CES next month, the automaker will announce some of the advanced technologies appearing on the car, one of which is expected to be a new burnout control feature.

Other goodies to be announced will include some new driver-assist systems, infotainment personalization options, and a drive mode selector that can adjust items like the steering effort, throttle response, shift speed and stability control settings.

In addition to these new features, the 2015 Mustang also packs past Mustang items such as the MyFord Touch with SYNC infotainment system, Track Apps performance metrics feedback, launch control and the MyKey nanny system.

The CES gets underway in Las Vegas in just a few weeks, running from January 7 to 10. Unfortunately, sales of the 2015 Ford Mustang don’t commence until the fall of 2014.
