It’s not every day that an ordinary stretch of road just suddenly explodes, outside of a war zone, at least, but here’s proof that it can sometimes happen, even in ordinary suburbia. Dashcam footage has captured the moment that a road explodes after a buildup of pressure below due to a burst water main.

As the footage shows, a crack appears in the road and almost immediately two big pieces are pushed upwards. Unfortunately, a driver of an oncoming Toyota is too slow to react and plows straight into the resultant rubble.

Moments later more water escape, rocking the vehicle. The good news is that the driver and his young passenger were able to escape from the vehicle and appear unharmed. The incident is said to have taken place somewhere in Russia.

Thanks R for sending in the tip!
