Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins and co-driver Craig Drew clinched their third consecutive Rally America Championship title at the 2013 Lake Superior Performance Rally (LSPR) in Houghton, Michigan. Here's how they did it.

This episode of the Subaru team's Youtube show Launch Control chronicles Higgins' and Drew's final push to the title, as they battled injuries and the Ford Fiesta of rival Ken Block. While Higgins had been at the top of the leader board for most of the season, a crash at the penultimate Ojibwe Rally left him injured and gave Block an opportunity to catch up.

The Ford driver took first place, with Higgins in second. That meant the final round would be a straight duel for the championship. Team Subaru eked out a 13.4-second lead on the first day, but Ford was close behind on day two. Both Higgins and Block gave it all they had.

"Every stage is like a qualifying stage," Higgins said at a service stop. He later added that he simply had nothing left to give.

Later that day, Block rolled his car, taking him out of contention and giving the championship to Higgins.

You can see it all in the video. Highlights include some amazing footage of Higgins' Vermont Sports Car-prepared WRX STI rally car blasting through the Michigan forests in a blaze of foliage and pace notes, and a rare glimpse into how the team prepares for the customary victory champagne shower.
