Earlier in the week we learned that Jaguar’s new modular iQ[Al] platform would spawn four all-new Jaguar-badged cars
between now and 2018. The first of these has already been confirmed as a small sedan to rival the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Another is likely to be a crossover based on Jaguar’s well-received C-X17 concept
It’s now being reported that the platform will also spawn a Land Rover model: a long-wheelbase Range Rover Evoque. This additional model is reported to debut in 2016 and is said to fill the gap between the regular Evoque and entry-level versions of the Range Rover Sport.
The information was first posted in a report from Bernstein Research, which was obtained by Autocar
Note, this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard about a long-wheelbase Range Rover Evoque. Soon after the regular model made its debut, there was talk of a ‘Grand Evoque
’ being developed. This Grand Evoque was said to be about 12 inches longer than the regular model and set to be available with new, in-house developed four-cylinder engines.
In addition, Land Rover is also working on a long-wheelbase version of its Range Rover flagship. Prototypes of the vehicle have already been spotted
. A showroom appearance is expected sometime next year._______________________________________Follow Motor Authority on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
