VŪHL Ready To Bring 05 To Market, Starting Up Production

VŪHL has been teasing us with the 05 for quite some time now. The time for news about the car as a prototype is over, however, because VŪHL have announced that the 05 is heading to production.  This news comes after the car was shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it had a successful debut. There at Goodwood, the team showcased both a complete car and a separate chassis were both displayed. Additionally, a car was run up the the hill by Mexican Formula 1 rookie driver Esteban Gutierrez.

After the 05 was shown to the public, VŪHL were able to secure the required amount of orders it needed to begin production of its first run of vehicles. This will be a production run of 20 cars, and these first ones will be designated Edition One. They will be fully specced out vehicles.

Whoever winds up with one of these Edition One 05 cars will be a lucky person. The vehicle only weighs 1,532 pounds, with the monocoque tipping the scales at just 172 pounds. Power is provided by a 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine and this mill is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The top speed is reportedly 152 miles per hour, and will run from 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds. That's because of the light weight coupled with the 285 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque pumping out from the engine.

VŪHL, which stands for Vehicles of Ultra-High performance and Lightweight, is a company created a team of Mexican/American brothers named Iker and Guillermo Echeverria. They both developed a passion for automobiles after watching their father build and campaign racecars for over 30 years. It sounds like they want to apply that passion to their own vehicle, and the 05 is the result of this dream. It's certainly not easy to bring a completely new vehicle to market, but the 05 seems to tick a lot of the enthusiast and track-focused boxes.

Now that it's officially entering production, I guess the next thing to ask about the car is... when can we drive it?
