BMW wants Frankfurt Auto Show goers, including both the press and the public, to experience some of their latest machines. No, they really want them to experience the cars. So much so, that the automaker is building a track for its new auto show stand.

It's shaped like the infinity symbol, and it will see cars putting over 5,600 miles on their odometers over the course of 12 days. Now that's letting folks get up close and personal with the latest automotive wares.

The main focus of the show will undoubtedly be the all-new i3. This all-electric city car should prove to be a show hit. BMW will also have its i8 plug-in hybrid sports car on display.

It will be interesting to see how the auto show stand incorporates the track in person. It will also be interesting to see how well-behaved the indoor driving action will be. We imagine that no one wants to be "that guy or girl" who has an off... indoors... at an auto show.

Regardless, it's a bold way to introduce a slew of new products and we imagine the track stand will be a huge hit even if some of the cars might not be. Maybe we can talk our way into a full laps around the stand with that new BMW 435i?

We "promise" not to drift.
