Today we said goodbye to the M3 coupe with a look at the last one ever to be made--or as it seems, with the new 4-Series to gain an M4. But for the Porsche Cayenne, it's a production milestone of continuance, reaching the 500,000th example produced at Porsche's Leipzig plant.

This isn't the first 500-grand milestone for the Cayenne. A fire truck-conversion Cayenne was the 500,000th vehicle produced at the Leipzig plant, which also builds the Panamera and once built the Carrera GT.

The Cayenne in this instance isn't a fire truck, but a Cayenne S Diesel in white, specced with the 382-horsepower, 5.7-seconds to 60 mph V-8 diesel that we'd love to see on these shores.
