The Porsche 911 is currently under the watchful eye of NHTSA. Not the new 991 version, but the 996 and 997 cars running for model years 2001 through 2007.

What's the issue? Well, it seems a coolant hose fitting may be prone to failure. When that goes, so to does the coolant that is supposed to flow into the engine and... cool it.

Specific models affected seem to be those cars fitted with the 3.6-liter GT1 engine. Apparently it could be around 10,000 units. If the coolant hose fitting does fail it could lead to serious engine issues. Additionally, spilling coolant all over the road isn't exactly a handling booster.
