The annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is, arguably, the most significant classic car event in North America. Each year, attendees come from across the globe to see the finest automobiles in the world displayed on the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

There are plenty of auctions to attend, as well as classic car drives and new car or concept car displays. Each year, one automaker is selected as the featured marque at Pebble Beach, and for 2013 that honor goes to Aston Martin, which is also celebrating its centenary year.

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance began in 1950, and has grown steadily to become an automotive event on the bucket list of enthusiasts the world over. The actual concours now marks the end of Pebble Beach Automotive Week, which offers something for attendees of all interests.

Last year, Aston Martin unveiled its range-topping 2014 Vanquish coupe at Pebble Beach, and the automaker promises debuts that recognize the significant nature of the 2013 event, though it isn’t saying what those debuts may include.

Dr. Ulrich Bez, head of Aston Martin (and a judge at Pebble Beach), said of the event, “The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance symbolizes the very soul of the automobile - it is a showcase to the world - and we are very pleased to be part of this great weekend.”

Bez continued with, "This special event is not only a celebration of what has been, but also of what may come in the future and it is this spirit that makes it the perfect location to continue to celebrate our first 100 years while also looking forward to an exciting and vibrant future."

That makes us wonder if 2113 Pebble Beach attendees will be celebrating Aston Martin’s 200th anniversary, commenting on how much the automobile has progressed over the course of another century. From our perspective, we hope that’s the case.
