Scuderia Ferrari, the motorsport division of the famous Italian sports car manufacturer, has started construction of its new headquarters.

The new building, located at the site of the former car park between a local restaurant and the Scuderia’s current headquarters in Maranello, Italy, is still in the excavation stage though it should be ready sometime next year.

Once built, it will house the management, engineering and administrative departments of the Ferrari racing team.

While much of the world is still readjusting to being back at work after the Christmas and New Year break, the people at Scuderia Ferrari are hard at work developing the new Formula One race cars that Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will be competing with in 2013.

Ferrari has confirmed that its new race car will be revealed at an event in Maranello in the early days of February, after which public tests will commence at the Jerez de la Frontera race track in Spain.

But before that the Ferrari calendar features other dates, starting with Wrooom, the traditional event that has been opening the Prancing Horse’s sporting season for more than 20 years. Dates for this year’s Wrooom event is January 14-18, and it will be taking place once again at the stunning Dolomites in Madonna di Campiglio in Northern Italy.
