If you're into action sports, especially motorsports, you've probably heard about GoPro's new line of HERO3 video cameras. They're built smaller, tougher, and with far better image quality than the previous (and still quite good) HERO2 line. And they captured this incredible high-resolution video of the Flying Lizard Porsche 911 race car at Petit Le Mans.

Only the Black Series of HERO3 cameras features the monstrous 2.7K resolution, which translates to 2704x1524 pixels--considerably higher resolution than 1080p HD, which is 1920x1080. Unfortunately, the highest resolution YouTube can display is 1080p, so even this brilliant video isn't as high-quality as the original.

Nonetheless, the stellar image quality, light handling, and clarity combine to give this video a more immersive feeling than you could get--at least for a mortal's budget--just a few months ago. Sound quality isn't so bad, either.

Anyway, enough about the cameras we use to capture our motorsports obsession. Go obsess for yourself as you watch Joerg Bergmeister pilot the Flying Lizard during practice for the 2012 Petit Le Mans.
