On the same day that Chevrolet announced the new LT1 6.2-liter V-8 engine for its 2014 Corvette, prototypes for the eventual convertible version also cropped up and have since been spotted by one of our spy photographers.

We were fortunate enough to be given a ride in the very first generation of the Nissan GT-R. The particular car was a 1972 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R coupe, and it’s one of less than 2,000 examples ever built.

Next week is the 2012 SEMA show, and in the lead-up to the event exhibitors have started announcing some of the exciting concepts they have planned. Some of the highlights include a tuned Lamborghini Murcielago, multiple customized Ford Mustangs and a cool Lexus LS 460 F Sport from Five Axis.

You'll find all of this information and more in today's car news headlines, here at Motor Authority.
