Here at Motor Authority we tend to spend most of our time on the paved bits, in low-slung, fun-to-drive cars. Barring that, we gravitate toward full-size highway bombardment hardware: cruising in style. But sometimes we get the urge to go where the roads don't. And when we do, the Toyota FJ is at the top of our list.

The ICON FJ-44 is among the coolest we've seen: four doors, six passenger capacity, a custom aluminum body, incredible form-follows-function looks, and a Chevy Vortec V-8 under the hood. In the idiom of the web: Want.

Here, Jay Leno and Jonathan Ward, the man behind ICON, give us a detailed walkthrough of the FJ-44's unique and, at times, creative, features. For those of you that just can't get your heads around the off-road thing, though, ICON also does some incredible work on renovated jalopies that it calls Derelicts.
