Back in June, we told you about a contest tied to Ford’s latest Mustang customizer website that would award four lucky designers the Mustang of their dreams. The process was simple enough: choose a Mustang, customize it within your allotted points and then turn it loose on the internet for voting.

Each 1,000 points accumulated by the end of a contest month earned the designer a single entry into the contest. The more you promoted your car (or cars, since multiple entries were permitted), the better your odds were of winning.

The winner of the first phase of the Battle for Your Dream Mustang Contest has been chosen, and we think it’s gone to a very deserving fan. James, a long time Mustang guy, even sold his 1994 Mustang Cobra to buy his wife an engagement ring; if that’s not love, we don’t know what is.

James’ HMS design is incredibly tasteful, enhancing the appearance of a 2013 Mustang GT without radically altering it. The car sports 20-inch Roush wheels, a GT500 rear spoiler and a 3D Carbon front lip, but it’s painted in fly-under-the-radar white. His car was built by Galpin Auto Sports, and then delivered in person by Vaughn Gittin, Jr.

During the contest, James submitted some 120 designs, racking up 195,000 point (and 195 entries) in the process. In other words, he worked hard at winning the Mustang of his dreams.

Three more Mustang winners will be chosen in the near future, too. While the contest itself is closed, you can still build your own Mustang and throw down against your friends for entertainment value and bragging rights. Head on over to the Ford Mustang Customizer site to get started.
