Tesla was awarded $10 million in the form of a grant from the Californian government to help start development of the Model X crossover. Tesla agreed to contribute $50 million of its own money towards the project to help upgrade its production facility and hire new staff. Tesla plans to start production of the Model X in 2014.

Porsche gave a power boost to the Cayenne in the form of a Turbo S model, which is rated at 550 horsepower. The large SUV will hit 60 from a standstill in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 175 mph. The new 2013 Cayenne Turbo S will make its formal debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month before sales start next spring.

Rumor has it Ford is working on a next-generation Focus RS that will feature an electric limited slip differential along with 350 horsepower. The active differential would all but eliminate torque steer issues while also boosting traction.
