Porsche's latest 911 Carrera S, the 991, has lapped the 'Ring on video--and set a quick, but not blistering, time of 7:37.9. That's not supercar territory, but the Carrera S is only the second rung up the 911 ladder.

The Stinger 609 is the world's smallest supercharged V-8, and it's absolutely incredible. Displacing just 6.09 inches, yet generating 9 horsepower, in an 11.25-pound package, it's both awesome and cute at once.

September car sales beat the estimates as other economic indicators turned upward as well. We're still a long way from the heyday of 2005, but it looks like things are getting better.
