Considering you’ve built up enough of a reputation that you require a bullet-proof vehicle, is a Hyundai really the way to go? The guys at ArmorTech, the Russian experts at building armored cars for politicians, industry leaders and perhaps a drug dealer or two, have considered the possibility, announcing today the new Hyundai Equus Limousine Security.

The vehicle will be on show at the 2012 Moscow Auto Show kicking off this Friday, and has been developed by Hyundai together with German armored car firm Stoof International, with ArmorTech providing plenty of its own consultation. Additionally, like many of ArmorTech’s previous works, including one of the world’s only stretched Bentley Mulsannes, the Hyundai Equus Limousine Security features a lengthened body, in this case one that measures in at 17.9 feet.

Engineered to VR7 ballistic protection, the vehicle features protective elements throughout, including in critical areas such as the door gaps. Here a special material overlaps the doors under the vehicle’s skin, helping to protect occupants from blast projectiles and splinters.

There’s also an additional battery, fire suppressant system, breathing air filters, reinforced door hinges, a reinforced fuel tank with self-sealing protection, and an advanced communications system. Thanks to all the modifications, the vehicle tips the scales at a hefty 8,500 pounds.

Motivation comes from the Equus’ regular 5.0-liter V-8 engine, which is rated at 429 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque.

Other luxury vehicles that have received the ArmorTech treatment include the aforementioned Bentley Mulsanne, as well as the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, Mercedes-Benz S Class, and even a G Class SUV.
