The Bloodhound SSC is fairly mental all on its own: basically, a jet without wings intended to skim the surface of a salt lake bed. The driver, accordingly, is slightly more mental--especially since he plans to take it to about 1,000 mph.

That man is Andy Green, shown here racing with Chris Harris in a pair of Radical SR3s. The Radical is itself quite fast, despite not being in the same neighborhood as the Bloodhound SSC.

The result of this mixture of land-speed record seeker and a quick sports racer in a road racing environment is a heady blend of fun and awesome. Harris, as usual, adds his own flavor of style and information, too.

For a special kicker, Green describes what it's like to countersteer a sliding, rear-steer car at about 600 mph.
