2013 Audi R8 e-tron with 8:09.099 Nürburgring lap time

BMW and Toyota are joining forces for a range of projects, one of which is a new sports car. While the details are yet to come, the very idea of a (likely) BMW-bred car going to Toyota (or more likely Lexus) is intriguing, to say the least--especially when Mercedes-Benz and Nissan/Infiniti are also cooperating.

McLaren gave us a teaser of the upcoming MP4-12C Spider, and while we can't see the whole thing, we expect it to be exactly what it sounds like: a drop-top version of the coupe.

And Audi's R8 e-tron has set a new electric car 'Ring record at 8:09 and change. That's blazing quick for an electric car and respectably quick in the overall ranks, beating out the likes of the Jaguar XKR as well as every production electric car to lap the circuit.
