SRT is set to debut its Viper GTS-R in American Le Mans Series competition later this year, so it’s taking every opportunity it can to show off the car in development and testing. As with the Viper teasers released ahead of the car’s New York Auto Show debut, we expect to see regular updates on the GTS-R’s progress.

Earlier this month we brought you video of the Viper GTS-R testing at Carolina Motorsport Park, likely the preferred road course of SRT’s development partner, Riley Technologies.

This time around, the GTS-R is being wrung out at Virginia International Raceway, and while the video isn’t long, it succeeds in proving that the racing Viper does indeed look fast.

Unlike the road-going Viper, which will pack an 8.4-liter V-10 engine, the competition version will be restricted to just 8.0-liters. Neither SRT nor Riley Technologies is talking about horsepower numbers, but we suspect there’s plenty on tap to make the 2,500 pound car competitive.

Look for the Viper GTS-R to debut later this summer. A two-car effort is planned, and the driver lineup (so far, anyway) includes Marc Goossens, Dominik Farnbacher, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Kuno Wittmer.
