Thousand-plus-horsepower Mustangs (or even 950 horsepower Mustangs, in street trim) don’t come along every day, which is why jeweler David Yurman has created a special timepiece to honor the Shelby 1000 Mustang.

Limited to a production run of just 300 units (150 in stainless steel and 150 in black PVD), the Limited Edition Shelby 1000 watches will sport a rubber band designed to resemble the appearance of a cobra’s scales. Each comes with a Swiss automatic Valjoux 7753 movement, and each bears the iconic Cobra logo on its face.

A tachymeter bezel allows wearers to track speed over a measured mile, and the face is further enhanced with vertical, tone-on-tone racing stripes. On the back, each timepiece is engraved with the signature of Carroll Shelby himself.

Drawing a parallel between his own artistry and that of Shelby American, David Yurman said that “both brands share the same passion for building beautiful objects of the highest possible quality.”

Pricing of the limited edition timepiece wasn’t mentioned, but serious buyers can register for updates on the David Yurman website. Like most other automotive-branded designer watches, owning a Shelby 1000 isn’t a prerequisite for buying a limited-edition David Yurman watch.

Announced at April’s New York Auto Show, the Shelby 1000 Mustang makes 950 horsepower on pump gas, in street-legal trim, or “over” 1,100 horsepower in track-only trim and fueled with race gas.  The Shelby 1000 will be priced from $149,000, plus the cost of your donor Shelby GT500.
