According to reports coming out of Europe, the Italian automaker recently trademarked the Levante name and plans to use it on one of three new models it has in the pipeline.
Those three new models are the Quattroporte successor as well as a production version of the Kubang SUV concept and a mid-sized sports sedan designed to compete with the likes of the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
We’ve already reported that Maserati trademarked the “Cinqueporte” name, which is Italian for “five doors” and thus is likely to be used on the upcoming SUV model.
That leaves us with the new baby sedan and Quattroporte successor. With the latter almost certain to keep the Quattroporte name, MotoriOnline points out that Levante will likely be used for Maserati’s baby sedan.
The first of Maserati’s new models is expected to be the Quattroporte successor, which we’ve already seen testing as a prototype and due on the market in early 2013.
This should be followed by the SUV, also in 2013, and finally the baby sedan sometime in the following year.
