Fisker Automotive has appointed former Chrysler CEO Tom LaSorda to the positions of Vice Chairman of the Fisker Board and Chairman of the Board’s Strategy Council. LaSorda will also assume the role of executive advisor to Fisker’s management team, reporting directly to Henrik Fisker.

LaSorda’s background in the industry spans some 30 years, and includes executive roles with both General Motors and Chrysler. He replaced Daimler's Dieter Zetsche as Chrysler's CEO in January of 2006, and was instrumental in the sale of the company to Fiat, which has ultimately led to the company's turn around. Despite a request from Fiat that LaSorda stay on board to help with the transition, he retired from Chrysler in May of 2009.

LaSorda will focus his efforts on working with key Fisker executives, such as Chief Operations Officer Bernhard Koehler, Chief Financial Office Joe DaMour and Chief Commercial Officer Richard Beattie. His industry background will prove valuable to Fisker’s credibility, a fact that Henrik Fisker himself points out.

Addressing the appointment of LaSorda, Fisker said, “The company is entering a new stage of growth, to which Tom’s strategic vision and experience will be vital. His appointment sends a strong statement about the future direction of Fisker Automotive as it becomes a global car company.”
