Although a driver for the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Penske Racing Dodge Charger hasn't been named yet, the team has promoted from within to select Todd Gordon as crew chief.  This promotion comes after a successful 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series campaign, during which Gordon led the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Charger to six wins and six pole positions.

"Our first priority is always to look within the walls of Penske Racing when making personnel decisions," Roger Penske admitted.  "We want to reward success.  The path we are taking with Todd mirrors what we did with Paul Wolfe, who led the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge to a Chase berth in 2011.  We think Todd can get the job done in the same manner."

Gordon joined Penske Racing in January of 2011 and quickly developed an excellent driver-crew chief rapport with Brad Keselowski, resulting in another successful NNS season that made the No. 22 Dodge one of the premier entries in NASCAR's second series.

"I can't thank Roger and everyone at Penske Racing enough for this vote of confidence," Gordon said.  "It's an honor to step into a race-winning team.  We have a lot of work ahead of us, but this is an organization full of talented people that know how to get the job done.  I look forward to getting the Shell/Pennzoil Dodge back in Victory Lane."

Penske Racing is continuing to evaluate drivers for the No. 22 Dodge, once the team parted ways with 2011 driver Kurt Busch. Several names are mentioned, including David Ragan - a race winner this year - and Sam Hornish Jr., who has driven for Penske Racing in Sprint Cup, Nationwide and IZOD IndyCar Series competition.  Hornish Jr won his first NNS race this year.
