Today, Land Rover unveiled a pair of lightly refreshed DC100 concepts
at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, but the real news was confirmation from John Edwards, Land Rover's global brand director, that the production version of the next-generation Defender previewed by these DC100 concepts will be truly global--as in, it will be sold in the U.S.
We'll have to wait until mid-decade (i.e., around 2015) for the new Defender to arrive, but at last, rock-climbing, mud-slinging, gravel-chucking Defender fun will be ours once again--without the grey-market imports, the rust, or the perpetual hunt for parts. Hurrah.
For now, you can enjoy these live photos of the new concepts
and the preview of all they entail here
