2011 Kia GT Concept
Like many concept cars in recent years, the
Kia GT Concept was built not with any specific production intent in mind, but with the possibility always present in the background. It's being pushed to the foreground now, however, thanks to its very positive reception at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show.
Autocar reports that Kia's European boss Paul Philpott thinks the GT Concept can "play a key role" in Kia's progress up the brand-value ladder--if it gets the same kind of positive reaction globally.
If the GT Concept does go into production, it should see the streets sometime in 2013, likely placing it as a 2014 model. If you've already forgotten--or simply overlooked it (for shame!)--the Kia GT Concept is something to look forward to, and not just in terms of its stunning design.
Power comes from a 3.3-liter v-6 engine, and is claimed at a generous 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque--and that power is sent to the rear wheels. For all of the GT Concept's details, check out
our preview here.
