2012 Infiniti M35h sets Guinness record for quickest hybrid
Hybrids aren't just for granola-snacking Birkenstock wearers anymore, and
Infiniti is on a mission to prove it with the 2012 M35h hybrid. To do so, the luxury sedan has set a new Guinness World Record for the quickest-accelerating full hybrid on the market.
We already knew the M35h was quick; Infiniti claims a 5.5-second 0-62 mph time. Late last month at Santa Pod Raceway in the U.K., Infiniti put the M35h to the test over a full quarter mile run, crossing the lights in 13.896 seconds at 103.51 mph.
By way of comparison, Infiniti notes the 1966 Shelby Cobra's quarter mile time of 13.5 seconds, which also matches the 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO's time. Even newer performance cars, like the 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera and 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante, are not much quicker than the M35h, at 13.6 seconds.
