Fans of the long-roof will mourn, but few others will even notice: a
Buick spokesperson has anonymously confirmed there are no plans whatsoever for a Buick Regal Wagon.
Talk of the Regal making the extension to wagon duty have swirled since the Opel Insignia it's very closely based on was earmarked for Buick badges, as there is a wagon version of the car in Europe.
Buick has been mum on the issue on this side of the Atlantic until now, but according to
Inside Line, a communications rep for the company has confirmed the idea is dead in the water.
We're not too broken up about it, as the Regal is a good car, but certainly not a paragon of performance or
luxury, and the wagon would likely mirror the sedan's traits with a bit of added weight to match its extended cargo area. Some fans, particularly those rabid for the GS, however, will surely miss the possibility of a Regal GS Wagon.
