This is Acura’s 25th year in the business and in celebration of the milestone the upmarket Honda division has been releasing a number of updates on its 2012 models.

The latest to receive the updates is the 2012 Acura TSX, which spawns a new “Special Edition” model featuring a number of unique exterior and interior elements.

The TSX Special Edition package consists of numerous upgrades to the exterior including a more aggressive front spoiler, a new rear bumper, unique side sills, and a Special Edition badge on the trunk-lid.

Finally, the car also sports unique 17-inch aluminum wheels with a polished finish and dark grey background.

Inside, there’s suede trim inserts for the seats, red stitching and red backlights for the instrument cluster gauges, new ambient lighting, aluminum foot pedals, and a black headliner.

Acura hasn’t mentioned whether the TSX Sport Wagon will also get the Special Edition updates, although the automaker has announced that customers will be able to choose from either the six-speed manual transmission or five-speed automatic.

Peak output still comes from a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter engine and is rated at 201 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque.

The 2012 Acura TSX Special Edition will make its official debut at the 2011 Orange County Auto Show on September 22, before going on sale later that same month.
